Here's to Reality

I am proud to announce that Jake and I graduated! I have never felt so proud of any other educational accomplishment. After four fun, difficult, growing, long years, we finally made it to the end and get to experience marriage without homework, student teaching, and finals week.  We are both looking forward to the rest and new experiences we are about to face.

Yesterday was the day I was dreading for the past couple months. Yesterday was the day we started our "grown-up" lives and started to embark on life without the title "student". It was filled with excitement and fear. Our families went back home, the caps and gowns were put away, and the books were put on the shelf. We now are dedicated to finding the professional jobs we have been looking for. And while I sometimes enjoy a little change, I often cringe at the thought of big changes.  I also hate looking for jobs.

In spite of all of this, I have found great comfort in some of my favorite verses.

Jeremiah 29:11- "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

Matthew 6:28-34-“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Throughout my life these verses have brought great comfort to me. But in times like this where the future is very unknown to me, I can't help but view these verses as more of a praise than a prayer. I am thankful God has the future planned and He will reveal it to us as we need to know, and I am excited that I do not have to worry about tomorrow because God will take care of us.

If you are in a similar situation, I hope you feel the same excitement that I have knowing I have little control over the rest of my life and that is ok. God will reveal something Jake and I never imagined, and I can't wait!
